ABOUT US - WHAT DOES CWGA OFFER YOU?
A network of Shared Experiences. As a member of the Association, you have access to over 500 breeders and producers throughout the state. Members share concerns, relate experiences, and learn from each other's successes and failures. You can meet these industry stakeholders at conventions, the California Ram Sale, and read about them in our newsletter, Herd the News.
CWGA receives the latest information on market news, animal health, production, natural resources, promotion, coming events, and legislation affecting the industry. Members receive this information in the newsletter, at committee meetings, field days and at the convention. Members can call the office at anytime.
A Political Voice The founders of the CWGA recognized that strength is in numbers when they came together to market their wool in 1860. The sheep industry, through professional and volunteer efforts, continues to have a strong voice in Congress and the California Legislature.
The CWGA is led by its members, and the CWGA leaders are well known throughout the state for their effectiveness and respectability. Elected positions include president, the vice-president, and treasurer. Opportunities for members to participate in standing committees include: Budget/Finance, Legislative/Government Affairs, Communication, Production, Education and Research Committee, and Development.
